Our Pastor & Grace Redeemer’s Story

My name is David Kim. I serve as the lead pastor for our community of believers. I am married to my best friend, Ruth. And I have two daughters who are in college. Yup! We are empty nesters. We love it!I have been in church ministry since graduating from UCSD in 1995. I am so thankful that God led me all these years in different roles, finishing my theological education in 2000 (Go Talbot Seminary!) and pastoral ordination in 2001 to prepare me for my ministry here at Grace Redeemer church.

Back in March 2016, I became the English Ministry lead Pastor for Cerritos Mission Church. In February 2020, our English Ministry became a fully independent church and became Grace Redeemer Church, a community dedicated to the gospel as a lifeline and vision of everything we do. However, the global pandemic became a reality within three weeks of launching a new church. But what seemed to be an unfortunate beginning for a newly established church, God graciously sustained us and even added to our staff a wonderful Christian Education Director, Julie Kim, and an amazing Worship Director, Danny Roh. Praise the Lord!

What describes Grace Redeemer Church? For me, it’s a community seeking to live out the gospel and reach our Cerritos community and beyond to make a more significant impact on the gospel.
